RI Magic Information

Fall 2018 Information: Our fall program begins the week of September 17th, runs through the first week of November, and consists of 5 tournaments. In the fall, for most teams, tournaments are within an hour and fifteen minutes of Providence. We practice twice a week and combined with games, are in the gym approximately 30 times during the season. Each week, one of those practices focuses solely on skill development. We use stations to teach and reinforce the main basketball concepts, utilizing drills that build on each other throughout the season. The second practice of the week is a team practice that focuses on skill development as well as team concepts of basketball. We offer a boys' program for players in grades 3 through 12 and tryouts are open to all players of varying skill levels and playing experience. You can register for tryouts at http://rhodeislandmagic.com/tryouts.

Spring 2019 Information: Our spring program begins the week of March 11th, runs through the first week of June, and consists of 7 tournaments. In the spring, the majority of the tournaments are within an hour and fifteen minutes of Providence. We do play one tournament that is usually further away, but no more than 2:00-2:30 hours from Providence. For our select teams, beginning in 8th grade, there will be more extensive travel throughout the season. We practice twice a week and combined with games, are in the gym approximately 50 times during the season.

Cost: The cost for the 2018 fall season is $495.

Summer 2019 Information: As a program, we have had several teams continue playing through the end of July in the last few years. There will be a meeting in April that explains everything, but this is some general information regarding teams that play through the end of July. First, this option is only available to teams that are in 8th grade or later and is usually for our white and blue teams. In the summer, teams practice once a week at a date and time to be determined, usually at Alvarez HS. The cost for the summer is an additional fee, which includes practice time, tournament fees and some travel expenses for the coaches. The cost will also vary depending on how many players agree to participate on each team and what tournaments they will be playing, therefore a final price will not be available until early May. Any travel and associated costs are not included in the summer fee. We do have a travel coordinator that will secure a group rate for tournaments that require an overnight stay. However, players and teams can stay where they want and travel to the tournaments however they like.

Uniforms: If you need a uniform package, which includes a full reversible uniform, shooting shirt and if needed, a practice reversible jersey, the cost is $85. If you played in Spring or Fall of 2018, you do not need to purchase a uniform package.

Skill Development Option: For players that are unable to commit to a full season of practices and tournaments or for players that we are unable to offer a spot on a team after tryouts, skills-only practices are an option. These practices are held on Mondays at Dr. Jorge Alvarez HS. In the fall, there are 7 age based workouts that any player from 3rd-11th grade can participate in for a fee of $100. In the spring, there are approximately 12 workouts for a fee of $200. Players will also receive a RI Magic t-shirt. If you are interested in this option, just email the director, David Tedeschi, at daat27@verizon.net to secure your spot.
